Persimmon fruit

About the raw material

Taste
Persimmon is an orange, tomato-like berry with soft, orange-red flesh. In taste it can remind of a mild mixture of apricot, peach and fig.

Origin
Persimmon is believed to originate from Japan or China and is more than 500 years old. It arrived in southern Europe in the 1870s, where it is extremely popular today.

Season
In Denmark we import persimmons from September to February.

Good for
A persimmon can be enjoyed fresh and is also good in fruit salads and with ice cream and white cheese. It can also be used in cakes and mousse.
