About the raw material

Taste
The apple comes in many different varieties, and can thus vary in terms of. appearance and taste. In general, however, the apple can be described as a round stone fruit, which can be both fresh and sweet in taste.

Origin
The apple is thought to originate from the species Malus sieversii, which still grows wild in Central Asia and elsewhere. In Denmark, the apple began to be cultivated at the time of the introduction of Christianity, and today it is one of the most widespread fruits in the country.

Season
The Danish apple season runs from August to May, depending on the variety, but we import apples from abroad all year round.

Good for
Apples can be eaten fresh and are also good in cakes and desserts as well as porridge, jelly and jam. See more about our Skælskør apple porridge here.
