About the raw material

Taste
The elderberry is a stone fruit that ripens in September. The ripe, small berries are black and perfectly round, and after a boil they are extremely tasty.

Origin
Elderberry grows on a shrub that can grow up to 8 metres tall, and it is very common in Denmark.

Season
The shelf flowers in June and July and bears berries in September.

Good for
Elderberries must be cooked before use and can be used to advantage in both juices and soups, where they are incredibly tasty.
