At Skælskør Frugtplantage we are specialists in fruit and berries, and our sense of quality, taste and good craftsmanship goes back to 1899, when Skælskør Frugtplantage was established by the Heilmann brothers.

With our extensive knowledge of fruit and berries and an ever-present focus on cultivating authentic, natural flavours, we work passionately to create products of the highest quality. Thus, we have also been a proud supplier to the Royal Danish Court since 1960.

At Skælskør Frugtplantage we do our utmost to ensure the good taste of every product. We cherish the old virtues and good craftsmanship, and we want to inspire new, wonderful flavours in this wonderful world of fruit and berries.

THE ORIGINAL ORCHARD

ORCHARD FROM SKÆLSKØR

Skælskør Frugtplantage® was established in 1899 by the brothers H. E. J. M. Heilmann and C. A. Heilmann, who were originally pharmacists in Skælskør. They had taken over the pharmacy business from their father, but as there was not enough for two salaries, their mother encouraged them to grow fruit and berries for, among other things, juice production. Ten acres of land belonged to the pharmacy, and the original orchard was planted here. As early as 1898, C. A. Heilmann sold his first juice, and this was the start of the Skælskør Frugtplantage®, which the brothers founded the following year.

At Skælskør Frugtplantage®, we remain deeply rooted in our history. We cherish the proud traditions, and since 1960 we have been a supplier to the Royal Danish Court. Based on our years of experience and great love for the raw materials, we always select the best ingredients - and you can taste it in every product from Skælskør Frugtplantage.

1898

The early start

The pharmacist's son C. A. Heilmann sells the first juice, and the seeds of Skælskør Frugtplantage® are thus planted.

Skælskør Frugtplantage® is founded

Brothers H. E. J. M. Heilmann and C. A. Heilmann convert the 10 acres of land belonging to their pharmacy business into an orchard, and together they found Skælskør Frugtplantage®.

1907

Skælskør Frugtplantage® expands and the pharmacy is closed

Over the years, the orchard is expanded to 50 acres of land, and in 1907 the plantation demands so much of the Heilmann brothers' time that they cede the pharmacy to J. C. Monberg. Now they can focus exclusively on the plantation.

1918

Fruit plantation expands to 175 acres

In 1918, the Heilmann brothers buy 100 acres of land from a distillery whose land adjoins the orchard. They also make other land purchases, and now they have 175 acres. Skælskør Frugtplantage is transformed into an A/S, and the products of Skælskør Frugtplantage A/S are now nationally known.

Local labour in the plantation

During the summer, more than 500 people show up to work in the plantation, and in 1958 a journalist reports that it is often married wives who can earn up to 1,000 kroner or more for themselves in a season.

Supplier to the Royal Danish Court

In 1960, Skælskør Frugtplantage® is selected as a supplier to the Royal Danish Court, which is a great recognition of the products' high quality and good taste.

De Danske Spritfabrikker takes over Skælskør Frugtplantage®

Skælskør Frugtplantage® is taken over by De Danske Spritfabrikker, which continues the production of marmalade until the end of 1988.

Production to be moved to the Group's Vendelbo factory

At the end of 1988, the production of marmalade is moved to Vendelbo Konserves in North Jutland.

2000

Good Food Group acquires Skælskør Frugtplantage®

In 2000, Good Food Group takes over the Skælskør Frugtplantage® brand. The range now includes fruit porridge, dessert sauce, marmalade, jelly, juice and soft drinks, which are produced in the company's own factory and adapted to today's consumers.

At Skælskør Frugtplantage®, we focus on how to find sustainable, innovative solutions in our choice of packaging that can help reduce energy waste.

RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION

Good and proper working conditions are extremely important to us at Skælskør Frugtplantage, and this applies not least to the physical working conditions in our production and fair market payment to the plantations. All fruit and berries used in our products are also grown with respect for nature.

ECOLOGY

At Skælskør Frugtplantage, we care deeply about nature and cultivate pure, natural flavours. We are constantly working to develop new, exciting, organic products for our range, and several of our products are thus also labelled with either the Danish or the European organic label.
