About the raw material

Taste
The fig is a pear-shaped fruit which has a very sweet and honey-like taste. The ripe fig is either green or purple/brown in colour.

Origin
The fig originates from the Mediterranean area, where it has been cultivated for several thousand years. However, California is the world's second largest producer of figs.

Season
Fresh figs are imported into Denmark between July and September, while dried figs are available all year round.

Good for
The high sugar content gives the fig its sweetness. It can be eaten fresh but is also good in desserts, baked goods and with cheese.
